Born into a Nordic-South Asian family and living in multiple countries has gifted me with a unique understanding of contrasts in culture, religions and values, which in turn has fired a passion for freedom, unity and respect. Drawing from these roots, I create paintings that unite people and convey supportive messages. By weaving positive childhood memories of Nordic simplicity with the colours of Kashmir, I infuse my art with personal values of equality and freedom that resonate from an inner calling to interlace differences - forming a Shamanic bridge of transcendence - between art, and the very fine threads that unite people as one.

At the heart of Spiraliens, I marry spirals, shapes and color with the enigmatic notion of ’aliens’ representing the unseen -> a manifestation of future currents and hidden realms. The spiral, a timeless symbol, unites diverse energies and embodies the harmony I strive to create. I seek to paint the richness of my DNA, a homage to past, present and future by infusing aesthetics from my Nordic upbringing - nature, simplicity, equality, truth and peace, as well as childhood memories of my father’s roots in Kashmir; colors, patterns, food and family. I strive to paint the connection of souls across cultures and borders.
With each creation, I embark on a journey inviting viewers into a world where the dance of spiraling energy unfolds. With each creation, I embark on a journey inviting viewers into a world where the dance of spiraling energy unfolds. Starting with a single drop of paint, I engage in a movement between me, the paint, and the canvas. The energy of the painting guides me, dictating its own pace and progression. Some pieces may be completed in days, some in months - I surrender to the flow of energy, refusing to force the creative process. I build layers in my paintings, culminating in intricate details that bring each piece to life. Working with a diverse range of mediums, including acrylics, charcoals, chalks, markers, oils, and pigments, I fuse many colors and textures. Time and place fades away as I lose myself in the act of creation, only realizing the passage of time when the sun sets and darkness envelops my studio.

My logo, merges The ‘Hunab Ku’ (read in blog) and a butterfly - the axis around which Spiraliens revolves. The spiral mirrors my quest to bridge worlds, serving as a personal embodiment of transformation. As my art unfurled, so did my wings. For decades I felt like a caterpillar, cocooned within a world of clashing energies. Through art, I have emerged into my true self, freed from the confines of polarities and conformities. In my artwork, the ‘Spiralien’ figures are my Shamanic butterflies. Their spiraling ears serve as antennas, moving between tangible and intangible, bridging gaps between worlds, the seen and the unseen, and personify the ancient energy of the 'Hunab Ku'.
I start in a flow like state and at some point the piece will begin to ‘speak‘ and I have an idea of where it wants to go. I might infuse my work with flashes from my life story, and then work with the creative energy and watch things ‘happen’. I start in a flow like state and at some point the piece will begin to ‘speak‘ and I have an idea of where it wants to go. I might infuse my work with flashes from my life story, and then work with the creative energy and watch things ‘happen’. I almost always try to bring Nordic aesthetics into the piece, but it doesn’t always work that way. This is because the message in the painting to the viewer transcends borders, languages, compositions, lines or colours, so I just have to follow where it’s going, however weird that is, or frustrated I might get. I often have to remind myself that my artwork isn’t ‘just’ decorative. I will build layers upon layers until the story completely unfolds and then finish with details, markings or symbols that support my interpretation of what I feel and know the piece is about.
